Why feed yourself

Posted Posted in Ageless Health

Poor nutrition occurs when a person’s diet and/or dietary supplements fail to provide the nutrients necessary for health, growth and normal body function. Many people who take over the counter dietary supplements believe they have enough nutrients, but often do not.  Poor nutrition can affect every system in the body, depending upon the cause of the poor nutrition. In mild to moderate cases, no symptoms or signs may be evident; however, as the condition persists, the signs and symptoms will become more pronounced.

Vitamin deficiency syndromes such as rickets, scurvy, and beriberi are uncommon in industrialized countries. However nutrient intakes above deficiency levels, but below optimal intakes do not allow for perfect health. Most people do not consume optimal nutrient levels through their diet alone.

The human body relies on healthy fats, proteins and carbohydrates for optimal functioning, growth and healing.  Because these things are becoming increasingly rare in the everyday food supply, good nutrition depends on adhering to distinct guidelines in your long-term food buying habits. A regular diet rich in omega-3 fatty acids from avocados and coconuts, protein from grass-fed beef and fiber from organic vegetables not only fuels the body for for daily activity, but also it fuels the brain. Daily intake of essential fatty acids averts long-term problems with depression, anxiety, moods swings and hyperactivity.  The consumption of vitamin B-12 from protein helps to avoid memory loss and brain shrinkage.

Eating a proper, nutritious diet offers numerous health benefits that keep you mentally and physically well. Proper nutrition doesn’t mean starving yourself, but instead means eating a diet balanced in lean proteins, fruit and vegetable, carbs and fats.  MayoClinic.com recommends getting between 45 and 65 percent of your daily calories from carbohydrates, between 10 and 35 percent of daily calories from protein and between 20 and 35 percent of daily calories from fats. Whole food is lower in calories than eating processed food.  For example, eating a burger alone is equivalent to eating a complete meal of vegetables,  chicken breast and brown rice in calories.

According to Health Canada,  it is recommended that we eat 8-10 servings of fruit and vegetables.  A medium fruit or a half cup of vegetables is a serving.  Eat dark fruits and vegetables such as kale, spinach, broccoli, , blueberries, raspberries,  cherries, etc.  Rule of thumb is to eat the colour of the rainbow to get all the nutrients and anti-oxidant.

To achieve optimal health, it is important to eat a healthy balance meal of whole food.  Because of the low nutritional value of food now a days, it is important to fill the gap with a multi-vitamin.  I personally like to use Lifepak Nano for a comprehensive nutritional  wellness program delivering optimal amounts of essential and semi-essential micro-and macro-nutrients typically lacking in diets, for the support of all body systems and organs for long term health and wellness.

When you intake optimal nutrients, you will experience the following benefits.

  1. Have beautiful healthy radiant skin
  2. Increased energy level
  3. Sleep better
  4. Slow down aging process
  5. Be at a healthy weight
  6. Have a healthy immune system
  7. Be taller from stronger bones and muscle
  8. Be smarter
  9. Have a faster reaction time physically and mentally
  10. Have healthy shiny hair and strong nails

It is interesting that some people take better care of their car than they do their own bodies.  Our body is meant to last in to the hundreds of years provided that we feed it properly.

My solution to live younger, longer!

OMG! I have never had any supplement that had such an impact on me so quickly!  I was blessed to get my hands on a bottle of ageLOC Y-Span (ageLOC Y-Span is coming to North America on November 12). I could not believe how quickly I could feel and see the difference.  I am a relatively healthy person; I exercise minimally 3 times a week, eat healthy and have a clean bill of health, except for my left knee which bothers me sometimes from all those kilometres I put into running.  After a week of taking the Yspan, I noticed that my knee pain was not there anymore!  I also have astigmatism, so it is very difficult to drive at night without glasses with all the glare from the lights.  Because I lost my glasses, I was surprised to notice that it wasn’t as difficult to drive a night as it was in the past. When I went to the optometrist, I was told my astigmatism was gone!!!  People around me are noticing that my pigmentation is fading and I look younger. I was devastated when I came back from Mexico, my sun damage was so bad that I even had pigmentation on my hands!  After using essential oils, it faded a bit.  Then after three weeks of using ageLOC Y-Span, the pigmentation on my hand was gone!

Below are my before and after picture with my face and hands.

img_9442img_5868

The biggest impact for me is the ability to wake up at 5 am to mediate and read.  I’ve been wanting to do that for the past year, and was able to do it only twice because I can’t seem to get myself to bed early enough to get enough sleep so I can get up. Now, after taking ageLOC Y-Span, I am going to bed around midnight or 1 am, but I am able to get up at 5 am to meditate and read!!  It is incredible.  My energy level is so high!  Normally, I can handle 4-5 hours of sleep a night for a few nights in a row, but now I have been able to go without 8 hours sleep for nearly a month.  Now that I’ve been off the supplement for three weeks, because I only had a small supply, I can definitely feel the difference.  I am now struggling to get up at 5 am. My focus and concentration was not the same as when I was taking ageLOC Y-Span.

The new ageLOC Y-Span works on the systemic aging defense mechanism. It helps our body defend itself from the many aging aggressors.

Ageloc Yspan works on so many areas of the human body to fight against the many aggressors that ages us.  It basically work on our whole system.

  1. It assists the  body in creating the nutrients it needs and antioxidant protection.
  1.   It resets the inflammatory balance.
  2.   It turns on the triggers for regenerating tissues.
  3.   It improves the metabolism.
  4.   It works on cellular stress response.
  5.   It improves DNA protection and repair

The main benefits of ageLOC Y-Span:

It is incredible that this is accomplished by resetting the 1000 plus genes that controls the aging defense mechanism using all natural ingredients.  Even someone with the best diet can not consume all the ingredients or the amounts that are in ageLOC Y-Span.  The beautiful thing is that you don’t need to have ailments to take this product.  The younger you are when you take ageLOC Y-Span, the longer you will remain young!

I didn’t believe her!

My friend, Oanh had an amazing experience. She was having intense leg pain from walking too much in her high heels for the past few days. It was so serious that she could no longer walk and she felt like her legs would collapse under her body.  Someone gave her a couple of ageLOC Y-Span and within hours, she was feeling great and pain was gone!  She then went shopping, dancing and karaoking until early morning.  I actually didn’t believe her when she told me.  I told her that it can’t work that quickly!! Boy, was she upset with me!

Then one of my other friends, Bich, had results made me believe Oanh.  She had really bad pain from her shoulder to her fingers for about 3 days.  She could not even write or drive with her right hand.  After taking the ageLOC Y-Span in the evening and then the next morning, by the afternoon, she was able use her right hand to write and her pain was significantly reduced!!!  Even I, who had quite an impactful product experience had a hard time believing these results.  I can imagine what the response would be like for people with no experience on the products. ageLOC Y-Span has been available outside of North America for several months and we have been hearing of some really spectacular results.

COPD

Kim’s mom was suffering from COPD and after taking ageLOC Y-Span for one month, she increased her lung capacity by 70% when being tested by the spirometer.

Heart

After taking ageLOC Y-Span for one month, Ed was able to reduce one of his heart medication.

Knee pain

Shawn suffered from two years of intense knee pain.  After 2 weeks on ageLOC Y-Span, his knee pain was significantly reduced.

Heavy metal

Bill has gone to see nine specialists regarding his painful swollen legs with suspicion of heavy metal or pesticide infection.  He was reduced to sitting in his recliner for about three months.  His CRP (liver and kidney enzymes) were at 298 when normal should be 2.  After of two days of taking ageLOC Y-Span, he was 50% better.  After two months on ageLOC Y-Span, his CRP was back to two again!!!

Eye healthy

Carl had an accident on the trampoline which caused her right eye to be legally blind.  After taking ageLOC Y-Span, she was able to read with her right eye again!

Frozen Shoulders

Jenny’s dad has had frozen shoulders for many years and is very lethargic because of diabetes. After taking the ageLOC Y-Span for a day, he had almost full mobility and had so much energy that he walked 20 minutes to the grocery store and came home with bags of groceries!

These are just some of the many testimonials. These results are individual based and not everyone will experience these particular results.

ageLOC Y-Span, Nu Skin’s most advanced anti-aging supplement, has received certification from NSF International. NSF International, an independent global organization with more than 70 years of protecting and improving public health, developed the only accredited American National Standard for dietary supplements (NSF/ANSI). This strict standard establishes requirements for the quality and purity of ingredients in dietary and nutritional supplements.

“The NSF International Certification represents the gold standard in the nutritional industry, providing consumers assurance as to the accuracy and purity of nutritional supplements,” said Dr. Joseph Chang, Chief Scientific Officer of Nu Skin. “This is in addition to our own rigorous, internal 6S Quality Process that looks at our development and manufacturing processes to maintain a high standard of quality, efficacy, and safety controls through each and every stage.”

This means what is on the label is what is inside the capsule, no more no less!

I am so excited for this incredible product ageLOC Y-Span to debut November 12.  This product will change the way people will age.  This means ageLOC Y-Span will contribute to my dream of living to the one and a half century mark. Woohoo!!!

I am Canadian and I was a refugee

I am Canadian and I was a refugee

The situation with the Syrians is bringing me back to memory lane.  Our family was one the refugees called the “boat people” fleeing Vietnam.  We were Chinese living in Vietnam and because of the war between China and Vietnam, we were persecuted.  We left our homes with nothing but the clothes on our back and a little bit of gold.  We didn’t know what to do but to go home to China, I mean, we are Chinese.

We didn’t really belong in China either, but we were grateful that they took us in.  The Chinese government  put us in a communal farm.  Our family of 5 were housed in a little 300 square foot compound.   My mom was assigned to teach in the communal farm school and my dad was assigned to work in the tea farm.  Life was extremely difficult and my father’s work was extremely hard.  My parents were paid a total of $30 per month, but it costed $1.5 to buy a pound of pork.  It was a treat to have meat for dinner.  My parents knew that they didn’t want this to be our life, and they needed to find a solution.

Figure 1. My youngest brother, Steven, Dad and I standing in front of our compound at the communal farm in China.

My parents learned  that people were leaving Vietnam by boat and going to a Hong Kong refugee camp so that they could have an opportunity to create a better life for their  families  and we could have freedom!  My parents held on to the possibility that we could leave mainland China and go to Hong Kong for greater freedom (Hong Kong was not yet part of China). So they  gathered all the gold they had and bought us a ticket on the boat to freedom. We left our Chinese communal farm in the middle of the night with the hope that by morning, it would be too late for the officials to stop us.  I remember walking in the dark through long grass that was taller than me.  I was so scared. I had to run to keep up with my parents and the group of other people with us.    My parents carried my two younger brothers,Trevor and Steven, then 5 and 2 years old.  I was told by my parents that I needed to keep up or I will be left behind. I was so terrified of being left behind that even today if someone says anything like that to me, it triggers huge fear and anxiety in me.

We walked through the night and arrived in Ping Sai, a small town by the sea.  We had to hide in a dilapidated old house so the authorities couldn’t see us.  When night fell, we walked to the shore to catch our boat to freedom.  To our horror, the little fishing boat was not seaworthy. Because we had given them all of our savings we had no choice but to go on the boat.  We ended up in a Chinese jail instead – because the water patrol spotted us.  I have always been grateful for that jail because we would of died in the sea if we had not been caught. (When we see the Syrians taking such dreadful chances in useless boats – we understand the choice and the terror.)

To mark Refugee Week a group of Vietnamese boat people who arrived in Australia in the early 1980s are exhibiting photos from the camp where they spent many years. Copy Photo. 18th June 2013.

Figure 2. A typical boat stacked with refugees.

We spent only one night in jail and then we were sent back to our exhausting communal farm. Our savings were all gone but my parents didn’t give up on their dream of freedom and a better life for our family.   They saved all that they could, borrowed from whomever they could and sent me to the market with our neighbours to sell anything we had to raise enough money to buy a spot in another boat for our family.  When given no option, we somehow do what we need to do. Now,  I can’t imagine being only 7 years old and going to the market by myself to sell things.  I am so grateful that we live in Canada and my children will never need to go through living from hand to mouth.

The planned seven hour boat ride that we purchased became a seven day ordeal.  We were attacked by pirates who took all of the little we had left.  We encountered a storm and were shipwrecked.  Because of the storm, the sea was extremely rough and we could not get close to the shore. I remember being thrown into the water where my dad was supposedly ready to catch me, but he was busy saving another child and I almost drowned. (I remember going swimming when I was a new Canadian and we were going down the slide. When when I went into the water I had flashback of that memory… and thought I was drowning again!.)  When we finally got to dry land, we had no food.  We didn’t budget for the journey to be that long!  On shore, we had to scrounge for seaweed and my mom had to beg the other people to spare us a little bit of rice. I remember licking berries for the salt from the sea water.

We ended up stranded on that island for a week before the storm calmed and we were able to continue our journey. Unfortunately the boat had taken a beating from the storm.  There were holes in the boat and I remember people taking whatever blankets and other materials we we could find and stuffing the holes.  The adult men bailed water.  We were piled on top of each other because we had more than 174 people on our poor fishing boat.  People were throwing up everywhere, the crush was horrid and every square inch was packed with people.  We were like sardines! We could only sit-up because there was not enough room to lay down.  You cannot imagine what it smelled like?  I remember being both wet and cold from the rain thrashing at us from the storm.

img_9769Figure 3. This photo of refugee packed like sardines, is a reasonable facsimile of our situation, although our boat was smaller. Nobody on our boat had a camera.

We were at sea in very rough water and could see many dead bodies floating around us and we knew that our boat was falling apart and would surely sink. At that terrifying moment a friend of my parents, Gai Lau (he now lives in Switzerland) who was a very strong swimmer, volunteered to swim for help. It is a blessing that he found a couple of fishermen and negotiated a deal for them to tow us close to patrolled water.  We ended up in Macau. When asked where we were going, we told them Hong Kong.  They saw that our boat wasn’t doing well and towed us to shore so they can pump water out of the boat for us to continue our journey.  As they were pumping water, our boat sank!

img_9770Figure 4. Capsizing boats like this were common sights in the sea.

We ended up staying in a refugee camp.  As it turned out we were extremely lucky that we were in the Macau refugee camp instead of Hong Kong.  We had a relatively decent camp life.  In Hong Kong, the refugees were treated worse than prisoners.  There were so many people in our Macau camp!  There were rows and rows of warehouses with rows and rows of bunks lined up inside.  Our family was assigned to a bunk which was the size of a king size bed. We were in the lower bunk.  We ate and slept and stored all our meager  belongings in the bunk.  We were lucky that we could do some piece work for the local silk flower factory.  We would earn $2 a day assembling the silk flowers.  We were one of the lucky ones and only had to stayed in the refugee camp for nine months (September 1979 to May 1980).

fullsizerender-3Figure 6. This is a group picture of our friends and family at the gate of the Macau refugee camp. We came on the same boat with my aunt Willow and her family. At the refugee camp, we found  some of my parents cousins.

While in Macau we learned that my uncle had ended up in Calgary from the Hong Kong refugee camp. So we chose to go to Calgary.  We are so grateful that five people (an anonymous sponsor, Dr. & Mrs. James Hunt and Gary & Audrey Farber) sponsored us to Canada.  We had never met them before, they only knew us from a photograph that the government took of us.  Because of their very big hearts, they saved our family.  We are so blessed.  I know that God was looking after us.  Because of these kind hearted people, we had an opportunity for a better life.  They took us into their homes.  The community donated furniture, pots and pans to help settled us into our own place.  I am forever grateful for the support of total strangers.  They help us because it was the right thing to do, the humanitarian thing to do, not expecting anything in return.

fullsizerender-8Figure 8.  The first photography is our complete family with a new addition, my baby sister,  Linda,  born two months after we arrived in Calgary.  The second photo is with my little cousin who arrived to Calgary before us and my two brothers to the right.  All the furniture and clothes we had were generously donated by the community.

I am torn thinking about the Syrian refugees.  There is so much talk about the terrorist trying to come into our country.  Are we going to sacrifice so many families with a chance that there may be a terrorist amongst them?  They are victims, just like we were.  How can we leave them in those dehumanizing camps?  The Vietnamese “boat people” refugees are contributing citizens of this country.  My parents worked two jobs and were part of the labour force that built Calgary.  We never went on welfare. Now, my brothers, sister, cousins  and friends are all professionals or business owners contributing to our society.  We are all taxpayers, not a burden to society.  We volunteer in both local and global communities. We are part of the force that is building a great Canada.

We can give the Syrian families a chance for a better life.  All people deserve to live a life of freedom from persecution!  They deserve to live a free life, just like you and I. Bringing them to Canada is the humanitarian thing to do.  There are two primary choices in life, to accept conditions as they exist, or accept the responsibility for changing them.  I choose to accept the responsibility to change them!  What do you choose?

Pigmentation- I wish I had acne instead of freckles

Posted Posted in Ageless Beauty

“I wished I had acne instead of freckles, at least acne will go away.”  I recalled a conversation I had with my friend when we were walking to school when I was 15 years old.  (Be Careful what you wish for…)  I don’t know how it happened, but I am a Chinese with freckles!  It is tough having freckles because Asians love beautiful flawless porcelain skin, and when they look at me, they can’t get past my freckles to see the real me.  I remembered a time when I went to Australia to see my cousin that I have not seen in over twenty years and the first thing he did was point to my face and exclaimed, “what happened to your face? ! You need plastic surgery!!!”  After the initial shock, I got over it.  I hated my freckles and I never understood when people with beautiful flawless skin say how cute my freckles are.  Human nature is funny that way, you always want what you don’t have.

I can see how little speckles of freckles can be cute, but my freckles became dark patches because I didn’t know to take care of my skin by using sunscreen.  I would go play in the sun without any sort of protection.  Now that I think about it, i was really stupid!  The sun is the worst enemy for pigmentation, second to hormones. I didn’t understand and didn’t realize the damage on my skin until a few years back.  Not only do I have freckles, when I was pregnant, i got the mask of pregnancy!!!  Oh yes, guess what, my wishes came through, I also got acne, but it didn’t replace my freckles! I also have to deal with acne scars!  That’s what led me to my research on pigmentation to have a better understanding and to start taking control of my skin again.

There are basically two types of skin pigmentations: hyperpigmentation and hypopigmentation. Hyperpigmentation is where melanin production is elevated which leads to dark spots on the skin, like freckles and melasma.  Hypopigmentation is where the melanin production is lowered and patches of lighter skin appears, and it could affect large areas of the body or small patches.  This is also called vitiligo.

Melanin is important to have in the skin because it is a natural sun protection.  If you lack melanin, then you would be albino, which means you need to avoid exposure to the sun.  Various shades and colours of human skin are created by the brown pigment, melanin.  Fair-skinned people produce very little melanin, darker-skinned people produce moderate amounts, and very dark-skinned people produce the most. There is also decreased melanin production, which usually results from a previous injury to the skin, such as a blister, ulcer, burn, exposure to a chemical, or skin infection. Sometimes pigment loss results from an inflammatory condition of the skin or, in rare instances, is hereditary.

Melanocytes, specialized cells that is responsible to produce melanin, are interspersed among the other cells in the epidermis, the top layer of the skin.  After melanin is produced, it spreads into the other nearby skin cells.

There are a few factors which can cause the increased production of melanin production in our body.  The two major ones are sun exposure and hormones. When exposed to sunlight, melanocytes produce increased amounts of melanin, causing the skin to darken, or tan. In some fair-skinned people, certain melanocytes produce more melanin than others in response to sunlight. This uneven melanin production results in spots of pigmentation known as freckles. There is a tendency for freckle runs in families. My sons now has freckles.  Hormonal changes can also increase the amounts of melanin produced, which happens in Addison disease, in pregnancy, or with hormonal contraceptive use.  According to the Johns Hopkins Medicine, diseases such as hemochromatosis or hemosiderosis or some drugs and chemicals that are applied to the skin, swallowed, or injected can cause skin darkening. Drugs and chemicals that can cause skin darkening include amiodarone, hydroquinone, antimalarial drugs, tetracycline antibiotics, phenothiazines, and some cancer chemotherapy drugs, tricyclic antidepressants, and heavy metals. Hyperpigmentation can also develop after injuries or inflammation caused by disorders such as acne and lupus.

Not only do I have freckles, I also have melasma, a chronic skin disorder that results in symmetrical, blotchy, brownish facial pigmentation.  The cause of melasma is complex. The pigmentation is due to overproduction of melanin by the pigment cells, melanocytes, which is taken up by the keratinocytes (epidermal melanosis) and/or deposited in the dermis (dermal melanosis, melanophages). There is a genetic predisposition to melasma because my mom also has it.  Some of the triggers for it is sun exposure and damage, a very avoidable risk factor.  If you like being outside like me, then use sunscreen and reapply every 2 hours.  Pregnancy also trigger melasma for some women, though often it fades after a few months after delivery.  For my mom, it went away, I was the lucky one with chronic melasma .

Now we understand the different types of pigmentation and what triggers it, let’s take a look at the physiology of skin pigmentation.  There is a three phase process on how pigmentation is formed – activation, synthesis, and expression. Activation phase is when various environmental and genetic factors trigger the activation of the melanocyte, signal molecules become active and bind to their receptors causing cells to initiate melanin synthesis.  Then we go into the synthesis phase. When the melanocyte is activated, the enzyme tyrosinase switches to its active form and converts amino acid tyrosine to a molecule called Dopa that is then converted into either dark melanin or light melanin.  This leads to the expression phase, when melanin granules are packaged into melanosome vesicles that migrate across and up the dendrites, finger like projections that extend up into the skin cells.  These melanin laden skin cells are brought to the surface and become visible through the expression of discolouration.

From my understanding of pigmentation, I chose the Tri-phasic White as my core skin care system.  It systematically enhances the skin brightening process.  This scientific method works to minimize the activation, synthesis, and expression of discolouration on the skin’s surface.  Clinically proven, the key ingredient technologies featured in each product combine to create the most comprehensive skin brightening system available.  This is a four step skincare system.

Tri-phasic White Cleanser brighten your complexion every time you cleanse.  It helps inhibit the expression of discoloration on the surface of the skin.  Featuring creatinine, this pearlescent, moisturizing mousse cleanses and brightens skin for a fresh, glistening appearance.  This cleanser works to improve skin tone and texture while leaving skin feeling silky-soft.

Tri-phasic White Toner is used to calm the skin.  To enhance the skin brightening process, fairtrex and carnosine are the key ingredients in the toner.  Fairtrex targets the expression phase by working to gently shed existing pigment from the skin’s surface, while carnosine a powerful anti-oxidant, helps calm the skin and target the activation phase, helping to prevent new skin discoloration.  It is a non-acid cell renewal complex that can be effective in targeting discoloration, leaving skin with a luminous and even tone.

Tri-phasic White Essence works on revealing a brilliant, translucent skin tone with Brightex.  This proprietary combination of ingredient works in multiple ways to illuminate the complexion by targeting the series of reactions in the synthesis phase.  Essential to the skin brightening, this  should be used as part of the daily regimen.

Tri-phasic White Day Milk Lotion moisturizes while helping target the daytime factors that can trigger discoloration activation. Featuring hexapeptide-2, which works to inhibit the activation os complexion-dimming discoloration from forming, and UVA/UVB sunscreen to help prevent ultraviolet rays – the most common cause of activation – from generating an uneven skin tone.

Tri-phasic White Night Cream is specially formulated with diacetyl boldine to help target the activation phase by working to inhibit stress receptors.  It blocks the activation of discoloration to reveal a more brilliant skin tone as you sleep.

On top of this, I also use essential oils to help me with my pigmentation.  From my vacation to Mexico recently,i got quite a bit of sun damage.  I still have not gotten into the habit of reapplying sunscreen every 2 hours when i am out in the sun.  Truthfully, I got a big scare when I saw how dark my pigmentations were, i almost cried.  I had to do some more research on what else I could use and I came across essential oils as a remedy.   I use lemon essential oil in the evening and lavender in the morning.  Along with lemon and lavender essential oil, rose, jasmine, sandalwood, and galbanum are great for skin pigmentation.  Lemon essential oil on your skin helps to lighten the complexion of the skin and protects your skin from various problems.  It rejuvenates dull skin and brightens it. Lemon oil is acidic in nature and that’s why it may create skin irritation. When I first used it, I felt a bit of tingly burning feeling which went away in a minute or so. If you choose to use the lemon oil during the day, do not go out in the sun right away because your skin will be sensitive; this is the reason why I use it at night.  Lavender essential oil has antiseptic and antifungal properties which help to cure various skin problems like sun burn, blemishes, acne scars, hot rashes, etc.  It helps to enhance the natural glow of the skin.  Because you do not want to apply the oil directly on the skin, I mixed the essential oil with Ageloc Tru Face Essence Ultra, which is a product I use for my skin elasticity.  I also noticed that pore size has significantly reduced since adding the essential oils to my daily skin regimen.

I’ve really learned a huge lesson this time with my trip to Mexico.  I really did take my skin for granted and didn’t protect it enough.  I realized that i did not develop the habit of applying sunscreen every 2 hours when I am out about in the sun.  I am grateful to have found the solution to remedy the pigmentation. It is never too late to fix a problem, but it is better not to have developed the problem to start with.  I believe everyone can have flawless skin if they have the right knowledge and developed the right habits at a young age.

I want to live to 140!

Posted Posted in Ageless Health

A few years ago I had a dream….I want to live for at least a century and a half. Now I can’t say I knew how I would achieve this dream but it set me on a path to learn more about new technologies available on the market today. This in turn brought up some sobering truths about life that I have been reluctant to address.  Do I want to live to 140 and suffer? Do I want to live a life of nothing but pure existence? Do I want to slowly lose my mind and forget those who are close to me? Absolutely not!  I aspire to live a long life while maintaining a youthful appearance as well as a healthy mind and spirit. I don’t just want longevity, I want vitality. When thinking of my grandparents and the quality of life they had in their later years, is not is life of joy and happiness. My grandmother had a stroke over a decade ago which ravaged her mind, body and spirit. This is very hard for me witness – particularly when I care so much about her.

This is very exciting! A new technology from Nu Skin (which has promised to assist the world with youth preservation) Ageloc Yspan (Canada) or Ageloc Youth (USA), will be on the market on November 12, 2015.  Yes, Youth Preservation! Think of the potential! The younger a person is when they start using this technology, the more youthful they will look and feel as they grow older.

Many people misunderstand when I say that I dream of being alive well over a century.  In their minds, they think when people get old they become like my poor grandmother.  But does it have to be that way? I believe it is possible to live with good health and vitality because of advancing technology and what we know about nutrition, antioxidant and genes.  “God did not give me a lick of the ice cream if it was not meant for me to have the whole ice cream cone.”

I know that once I’ve made the decision, the universe will unfold in front of me many opportunities to support that dream.  I just need to be open to take the lessons that was presented. Because of this dream, I am always researching and educating myself about what it takes to achieve my dream, and thats when I discovered Nu Skin’s soon to be released product that deals with anti-aging at the genetic level. How cool was that!

With my dream foremost in my mind, I was still doubtful because there was no confirmation that it is possible. Most of the more mature people in my life are without much enthusiasm or vigor.  So how am I supposed to believe in living a healthy long life without evidence? Of course, when you ask, you shall receive!

A few years ago, I met a man in his seventies on a flight to Vancouver, who reaffirmed that it is possible to live a life of vitality even at that age.  He was on his way to climb Mount Kilimanjaro! Incredible!  That trip was his third time!  I was so inspired!  I asked him what is his secret to vitality and he said, “don’t sweat the small stuff and don’t have any debt because the stresses of not having money wears away your life.”  So, living a long life is also about your mindset and eliminating stressors like debt.  I am so grateful to have spent an hour chatting with him on the plane because he is an example of what is possible for me. Again, ask and you shall receive. You must be open to receive.

Then the other day at a nail salon in Calgary, I noticed this older lady who is so full of life and I started talking to her.  From our conversation, I learned her grandchildren call her Nani and she is 80 yrs old.  Her and her husband drove across the Canada, from Ontario to Alberta, to visit her daughter and grandchildren.  Wow!  I was so blessed to have spent 45 minutes chatting with her and learning her secrets.  She was gracious enough to allow me to record some of our conversations.  Watch the video below to hear her secret to vitality.  She’s got so much spunk!!!  I just love her energy!

“Whatever a man’s mind can conceive, and believe, will achieve”….Thomas Wilhite. Once I commit, the universe conspires to make it happen. The universe is putting in my path the elders who are living a life full of vitality.  There are no coincidences.

Looking at myself now and I realize that feel younger and healthier at forty-four than I have ever felt because I am open and willing to do what it takes to live to my dream. My stamina and energy have never been better.  I am in better physical shape now than I was in my 20’s.  Don’t get me wrong, it took work for me to be the way I am today.

I started to invest into my health.  I gained a better understand of how nutrition , exercise, mindset affects my body. I know that health is a long term investment.  I have a fruit and vegetable smoothie every morning, I take my supplements, I exercise at least three times a week, I take personal growth courses to work on my mindset and read about these topics. I am building a business that allows me to have financial freedom where I will have passive income to eliminate financial stress in my life so I can achieve my dream.  If I want to live a youthful and healthy life past 100 years, I need to take the action necessary within my control.  “A dream becomes a goal when action is taken toward its achievement.  A goal without a plan is just a wish.” — Nishan Panwar

Do you believe that it is possible to live that long?  With advancing technology and understanding of the human gene genome, I know it is possible. Since the mapping of the human gene in 1984, (when I was about 13) we have learned so much more about our body and what makes it tick.  We now know what genes are responsible for aging.  If we can control that and make sure it functions optimally, then we can slow down or reverse the aging process.  This clip of the discovery channel documentary will explain how our DNA is revealing the fountain of youth.

This new technology coming in November is very exciting indeed. This means the younger I start using this technology, the longer I can keep my vitality. It works on our systemic aging defense mechanism. Aging defense mechanisms are the body’s way building our defense against aging agents, stress and free radicals, that cause damage to our repair processes.

We live in a world of polarities.  We have day and night. We have life and death.  In our body, we have damage and repair. Changes in gene expression cause our body’s aging defense mechanisms to decline in function, performance, and ability. Our ability to repair can’t keep up with the damage, therefore we age. This new technology maintains and supports the gene activity by positively adjusting gene expression, helping us to live youthfully. Basically, it means we can repair faster than damage is done!

This new product influences multiple aging defense mechanisms to provide broad-spectrum health benefits and to promote healthy: systemic balance, cellular response, DNA integrity, systemic inflammatory responses, antioxidant protection, brain, eyes, heart, skin, immune function, bones, joints, lipid metabolism, and physical performance. Ageloc Yspan or Ageloc Youth promotes healthy regulations of the damage and repair processes!!  Do you know what that means?  This could mean once I start using this technology, I will become “immunized” from aging? I can’t wait until November to try it out.
